In energy wise city, the blocks of buildings form an active part of the energy system in producing, storing and consuming energy as energy communities. Energy-efficient and low-carbon buildings, in turn, are designed from the very beginning to enable the use of renewable energy, real-time energy monitoring and regional plus energy systems.
Data collection is a crucial element in the Energy Wise Cities project. The data will be collected on energy consumption and production as well as on usage and user habits of real estates. In addition, more focus will be emphasized towards analyzing the role of building users; how the users are acting in the building and how this information can be utilized in energy management. The collected information will be also used in developing new products and services provided by business actors.
The Energy Wise Cities project will comprehensively integrate city, business and user perspectives and ensure a successful market dialogue between cities and companies. The network and cooperation between businesses and cities also supports the renewal of the renewable energy and energy efficiency partnership model.
The Energy Wise Cities project enables the utilization of urban real estate groups as a virtual power plant. Furthermore, cities will learn more how to further utilize demand response. The project activities will reduce climate impacts and improve comfortability and well-being in buildings by developing real estate management tools. Users will be activated to provide information and solutions for future energy ecosystems.
