LIAA offers wide range of services to support innovations, export, attracting foreign direct investments and more.

Attracting investments – LIAA offers assistance throughout the process of setting up operations in Latvia, acting as a first point of contact and as a “one-stop-shop” in assisting investors and in developing tailored solutions to meet their specific needs. LIAA is doing its best to attract foreign investment and help companies grow, encourages new businesses and facilitates plans of government and municipalities.

Promoting foreign trade – as one of LIAA’s goals is growing export volume, trade missions, national stands, export workshops, B2B events, as well as individual meetings are organised. We also have advisors in 18 countries to help you with all business-related requests.

Boosting innovations – turning the work of scientists into commercial success and encouraging innovation are some of LIAA’s top priorities. LIAA organises various training and networking workshops to educate on trends, protection and management of intellectual property, technology transfer, development of new products and technologies. Consultations and funding for development of new products and technology are also offered.

Supporting start-ups – LIAA stands for innovative ideas, supports turning ideas into products and businesses, and also raises awareness about Latvian start-up community abroad. This means implementing Law on Aid for the Activities of Start-up Companies, supporting their participation at fairs, conferences and visits abroad. LIAA also organises informative and educational events in Latvia and abroad, gives a “start-up visa” for non-EU start-up founders who are willing to come and kick-off their ideas in Latvia.

LIAA can help with:

  • Provision of all relevant information on business opportunities & business incentives
  • Start-up support:
    • Startup visa is a temporary residence permit for up to 5 founders and their family members (up to 3 years)
    • Startup law benefits 45% co-financing of highly qualified employees; or flat social tax + 0% personal income
    • Other benefits among 40+ incentives (business incubators, accelerators, innovation vouchers, support to promote foreign trade etc.)
  • Starting business in Latvia:
    • Assistance with investment location selection & implementation of investment projects.
    • Identification of the best property options for manufacturing facilities, offices, & greenfield development.
