Smart City solution

Kyyti develop the world´s first Mobility as a Service solution with on-demand ride sharing capabilities. Kyyti means “ride” in Finnish and it was introduced into major Finnish cities starting in March 2017. In a very short time, the service has had tens of thousands app downloads and users.

The service is dynamically priced. Customers can choose from three service categories and receive a lower price by being flexible in waiting and/or travel time. The price for all service categories is always given before ordering and is final. Such affordable pricing is based on aggressive dynamic price versus service level algorithms, shared capacity and optimized use of the fleet.

Kyyti is service designed to complete the demand-responsive service spectrum. It is a wide-ranging, demand-responsive, shared-ride taxis/minibus to replace/supplement existing fixed route service, specifically for hard to serve areas currently using 12-meter buses and other large vehicles. It also serves as a genuinely less expensive taxi when viewed in per passenger-kilometer basis than most of the TNC services.

Kyyti is making Mobility as a Service happen in practice right now. Kyyti is the gateway for customers to step into the era of intermodality. We are very pleased to announce our first international operations in USA and Central Europe in Autumn 2017.

The company’s ambition

Kyyti provides a full spectrum of complementary services for cities. Its centerpiece product is the Kyyti MaaS application with on demand ride sharing solution that is suitable for both competitive situations amongst several MaaS providers and for white label use by public organizations that have decided to upgrade their current transit and transport route and travel planning applications to the state-of-the-art in MaaS functionality. It can include information and payment possibility for all available modes in the region that have a suitable Application Program Interface (API), as well as complete guidance for travel with one’s own bicycle or walking.

Kyyti MaaS has already reached a refined stage. It can be connected to an array of Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) application modules. An operating agency can use them to provide a variety of service plan possibilities that compete well with the single party taxi and transportation network company options or bridge the gap with the 12-meter bus. Kyyti has a built-in intelligence where it can provide options to an individual based on their revealed preferences from the past, subject to their permission, and compile this information for use in planning and modeling databases. It can be configured to support various Business to Government uses such as service consolidation (disabled, medical, school, and so on) and Business to Business uses (institutional travel demand management, employee benefits, and so on).

Many organizations are wondering what the correct approach is for them in this increasingly complex transport ecosystem. Kyyti has consulting partners, Demand Trans, Ltd. focused on US and Strafica, Ltd. on Europe, who can provide unbiased analysis on transport demand under different DRT options, effects on demand from joint pricing of trip chains, demand forecasts including non-motorized modes, and trend predictions with future population growth and land use changes. These partners use several simulation packages run by people of academic and advanced computing backgrounds with many years of experience of consulting and employment with both public and private industries.
